I Chose You

Mary said to Juan Diego,

“Know for certain, littlest of my sons, that I am the perfect and perpetual Virgin Mary, Mother of the True God through Whom everything lives. You must go to the house of the bishop of Mexico and tell him that I sent you and that it is my desire to have a Church built here.”

You know from the story, Juan went to the Bishop, but the Bishop did not believe him.

So, as Juan was returning home, Mary was waiting for him at Tepayak Hill. He explained what happened with the Bishop and He begged her to send someone of more important, a professional so to speak, saying to her, “Because I am a nobody, I am a small rope, a tiny ladder, I am just a leaf the tail end, …”

But Our Lady answered, “I have many servants and messengers whom I could send but I have chosen you…Go and tell the Bishop that I, in person, the ever-virgin Holy Mary, Mother of God, sent you.”

Friendship Carried the Miracle

In the 1500s there were no phones, no email, no TikTok, no YouTube. Yet within a decade of Our Lady’s appearance on Tepeyac Hill, nearly ten million people of the Aztec world heard the news and walked—sometimes hundreds of miles on foot—to Mexico City. Why? Because one person told another. But it wasn’t gossip. It wasn’t rumor. The story of the tilma and the roses passed through webs of trust—family to family, neighbor to neighbor, friend to friend. Each act of sharing rested on the credibility of an established relationship. They believed because they trusted the one who spoke. The miracle of Guadalupe spread not only by divine power, but by the ordinary power of friendship and conversion. It shows us that God’s greatest works move forward not only through great signs, but through one ordinary person sharing faith with another in love. That is how millions were baptized—because the Gospel, clothed in Mary’s presence, traveled the pathways of human friendship.

We all have family and friends who are not interested in Jesus and the Church. But currently there are 3000 Catholics for every one priest.

So who is going to bring the love of Christ to them?

The people at risk are our people, so we are in the best position to show them the love of God and to know, love, understand and care for them.

Who else will do it? We are the ones who care!

Our Method

We all know that you can’t just go up to someone who wants nothing to do with Christ and the Church and say, “Hey, why don’t you try praying the Rosary!?”

That’s why our method for evangelization isn’t the Rosary. It’s friendship.

Why do we keep repeating this? Because no matter how often it’s said, people will always ignore the simple and obvious solution. Instead, everyone turns towards programs, institutions, and the latest, most helpful self-help book. They blame their priests, and the culture, and really, all they’re doing is avoiding the real solution.

If you want to help a loved one back to Christ, the solution is not a program. Pray for them. Offer sacrifice for them. Develop a genuine friendship with them and have good conversation. And when God opens the door – invite them to encounter him though prayer.

Again, what is the real solution? PRAYER. SACRIFICE. FRIENDSHIP. GOOD CONVERSATION. And when the opportunity arises – Invitation. In that order.

Our Lady needs her Juan Diego’s

Who can you invite to coffee, to drinks, to your house? Who can you get to know better? How quickly can you get them on your schedule? Do it now, do it immediately. Don’t wait. If you can’t find the time, make the time. Because this IS the method.

What Story Do We Tell Today?

When you return home from Guadalupe, people will ask you, “How have you been? What have you been doing?”

That’s your moment. You can say, “I went to Guadalupe.”

Show them a picture of the tilma. Tell the story of Mary’s appearance to Juan Diego.

And then you can go further. You can say: “She is still appearing. Not in Guadalupe but in Lourdes, Fatima, Zeitoun Egypt where more than one million people saw her at once.

And Mary has been appearing at Medjugorje every day since 1981.

She comes again and again, not for herself, but to lead us to her Son.

Just as the miracle of Guadalupe spread from one person to another, so the story can spread today—through your testimony, your family, your friendships.

Mary’s message and her rescue mission moves forward when ordinary people, touched by grace, simply tell the story of what God is doing.

Five

What is Mary asking today

Consecration - At Fatima, on July 13, 1917, God revealed through Our Lady His plan to save souls: “To save them,” Our Lady said, “God wishes to establish in the world Consecration to My Immaculate Heart. If what I say to you is done, many souls will be saved and there will be peace.” She promised: “In the end, My Immaculate Heart will triumph.”

Consecrate yourself and your people to Mary every day.

Rosary - Every time Our Lady appears she asks us to pray the Rosary every day. At San Nicolás Our Lady said: “The weapon that has the greatest influence on evil is to say the Rosary…The Holy Rosary is the weapon which the enemy fears. It is also the refuge of those who look for relief for their sufferings, and it is the door to enter into my heart.”

Pray the Rosary for the conversion of your people every day.

Sacrifice - At Fatima she pleaded: “Pray, pray very much, and make sacrifices for sinners; for many souls go to hell, because there are none to sacrifice themselves and pray for them.”

Never let a day go by without offering both voluntary and unexpected sacrifices for the conversion of our loved ones.

But do not forget that our method, the way to carry the message is by means of authentic friendship. So, live your faith, live in intimacy with Christ and then actively and perseveringly work to create real friendships with your family and friends. And when God give the moment of grace – the window of opportunity – invite them to encounter Christ.
